The Eaglet

An eaglet without a home was caught and raised with a farmers chickens, so the great bird had no sense of his power of flight. With the other birds, he was always looking down to the ground for food. One day his captor decided to teach the eagle to fly, and he lifted him up in his hands, but as he tossed the bird up for release the eaglet fell to the ground. The farmer then threw him above his head, but the eaglets fall was all the more severe. After many tests he then placed the eaglet on a fence and steadied him there for a few moments. The eaglet lifted his head, and catching a glimpse of the sun, suddenly he pushed out one wing, and then the other. With a shriek and a bound he rose up from the fence. In another moment he began to soar with grace and rose higher and higher, until soon he was lost from sight in the bright light of the sun.
As you keep your eyes on the Son of righteousness you too can soar. With a heart of gratitude we must realize how thankful we should be that Jesus is always there to lift us up when we get down. Raise your eyes to heaven…….from there comes your only help (My thoughts added with The Promises of God, a story told by H.M.S. Richards, p. 330).
With a thankful heart.
