If We Love God

It is not possible for the heart in which Christ abides to be destitute of love if we love God. He first loved us and that makes us love ALL for whom Christ died. That includes everyone who has been on earth, who is on earth and who is yet to be born on this earth.

We may claim to be followers of Christ, we may claim every truth in the word of God; but this will do nothing for our neighbors, peers, or anyone you meet, unless your belief is carried into your daily life.

Love is the basis of godliness. Whatever the profession, no man has pure love to God unless he has unselfish love for his brother. And we can never come into possession of this spirit by trying to love others. What is needed is the love of Christ in your heart. When self is merged in Christ, love springs forth spontaneously. The completeness of Christian character is attained when the impulse to help and bless others springs constantly from within your own heart. That’s when the sunshine from heaven fills your heart and is revealed in your countenance as love (My thoughts (also in singular), with Christ’s Object Lessons, pp. 383, 384).
