God can use Anyone
Nehemiah, a lowly cupbearer for King Artaxerxes of Babylon, was an unlikely choice to restore Judah and its people after years of Babylonian exile. But despite great opposition from enemies of other nations and rebellion from among his own people, he and his countrymen successfully rebuilt the long-destroyed walls of Jerusalem in a record 52 days. In the great controversy between good and evil, there is only one side to choose. To choose the winning side is to choose allegiance to God. You will find you grow as you get to know Him though His Word. Be a model worker. Whatever your position you must always remember you are in service to God, not man. When you do your best at any task, you can earn the favor of others that might be in higher positions than you then because you give your best you will become a more effective worker for God. Think beyond yourself. When you feel God is calling you to help others, don’t hesitate, despite the risks involved. You must be of a self-sacrificing spirit if you want to fight against the evil one, and then you can also be an example and a help in the lives of others. Through fervent prayer and fasting Nehemiah resolved to undertake the huge task of reestablishing Judah both physically and politically. He turned to prayer as his FIRST line of defense. Surrendering to the true Source of your strength means you will learn like Nehemiah to pray without ceasing (My thoughts with Collegiate Quarterly, January 2016). Sherry
