Filled with the Spirit
The indwelling of the Holy Spirit is the foundation of all true success. If you remember the story of Gideon, you will remember that he was a true leader for God. His life presents a unique story of God’s saving power. Gideon felt his helplessness and unworthiness; which is what made him such a successful leader. He was very reluctant to accept the responsibility God desired to place upon him. He wasn’t disobedient, but he felt unworthy. He said he was the least in his father’s house. Gideon knew what it meant to attend God’s private school. It’s where he learned lessons that cannot be learned in any other school. Another reason he was a success is found in his Spirit-filled life. The Spirit of the Lord was upon him, and overshadowed his life. The result of this experience caused him to lead God’s people to a glorious victory. He was courageous in stepping out in faith against an army that greatly outnumbered the men that were to fight for him. And the secret was that God chose the men and Gideon listened to God. As long as we feel we can be victorious in our own strength and feel independent, we will fail in the sight of God. Though we face trials, hardships, and maybe persecutions, let us seek to be modern Gideon’s of today (My thoughts with In the Morning, page 294). Sherry
