Confessed and Forgiven Sins
Sometimes the cry of our human heart is, “O God, if I could only get rid of the past, and forget my past life.” To have this blotted out forever from your memory would be the desire of those who know the agony and shame that sin has caused. The Greeks offered an escape from their past sins in the pool waters of Lethe. Those who drank of the waters were supposedly to fall into eternal sleep. Many restless, unsatisfied, people ran toward the pool, seeking oblivion. This was a deceptive scene! Those who run toward the fountain spoke of in Zechariah 13:1, “In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness,” will be satisfied. They can come with their defiled, sinful lives and find forgiveness. Their sins will be blotted out and thus bring peace to the troubled heart. One reason why so many fall into sin is that they permit their minds to play with it. They build a desire for sin when they should avoid it and stay away from it as far as possible. Keep your sins confessed and seek forgiveness. By doing that you believe God is merciful and kind, and in the judgment, when your name is brought before Him, your sins will be blotted out forever.
